Sharp offers No Compromise with DM-1500 / DM-1505

Sharp has launched the DM-1500 and DM-1505, no compromise multifunction devices combining a true printer and true copier within one unit, improving productivity, giving greater value for money and increasing available desk space.

By combining two separate functions in one multifunctional machine, users will also have the convenience of one supplier, with one point of contact for queries and one consumables bill. A full support package is offered to all users, which includes a printer style maintenance package to appeal to IT users, but with full copying functionality. This enables IT buyers to replace their analogue copiers, which may be used less as more documents are produced via the printer.

The two products offer similar functionality with an integral duplex facility on the DM 1505 which allows double sided printing and copying, halving the amount of paper used in each document. Both are network connectable and are ideal for work groups of between 5 and 15 personnel.

Peter Mackie, Product Marketing Manager for Sharp DM Products explained the strategy behind the launch, The trend in office management is moving away from machines with a single function offering either printing, copying or faxing. Increasingly people are demanding more from their technology, wanting a combination of several functions in one product without compromising.

He continued, The DM products offer a real alternative to desktop laser printers and separate copiers. According to Dataquest, printed output is rising by 4% per annum, with 60% of that volume now being produced by network printers. The new DM series which focuses on the network ability of the IT reseller enables the IT channel to capture business in both printer and copier environments.

Mackie concluded, The new DM-1500 and DM-1505 provide full network printing with full copying capability as standard. Each is fully configured and is available as a complete package ensuring that once bought, the units are easily installed by the user.

The two products are PCL5e and PCL6 compatible, have a 15 pages per minute output with 600 dpi printing and copying. A 50 sheet bypass tray is fitted for heavier paper stock or transparencies whilst the two paper trays each hold 250 sheets to reduce the number of refills required.

When copying, the scan once copy many facility ensures these digital devices are quieter than their analogue equivalents and the wear and tear on documents is reduced. Should the size of the original document need changing, the image may be manipulated within a zoom range of 50% - 200%. For ease when copying, an automatic document feeder is fitted as standard on both the DM 1500 / 1505 and each will allow a maximum of 99 continuous copies.

The comprehensive DM warranty provides one year on-site cover, has options for a sixteen or eight hour on-site response and may be extended for four additional years. Service cover is provided in the field by Sharp trained engineers to ensure maximum up time.
