Sharp Picks up BERTL s Best of the Best and BERTL s Reader s Choice

BERTL, the leading independent authority on digital imaging performance and industry benchmark testing has announced the results of this year s BERTL s Best , awarding Sharp s AR-M236 and AR-M276 printer copiers as the Best 20 to 29 pages per minute (ppm) Monochrome Office MFPs of 2005.

Now in its 10th consecutive year, BERTL s Best award recognises excellence in digital imaging technology and innovation. The award winners are selected after BERTL conducts a rigorous analysis of the hundreds of digital imaging devices, software and management utilities in the global marketplace.

One of the most heavily contested segments of the market, the BERTL s Best title recognises the performance of Sharp s 20 to 29 ppm copier printers for their cost efficiency and innovation. Whilst print and copy speeds are important, the competitively priced features, personal desktop management software, advanced security and overall business process value provided the key criteria that led to Sharp s products being defined as BERTL s Best .

In summary, the BERTL report states that The Sharp AR-M236 / AR-M276 is offered at an aggressive entry-level price and comes with a good feature set compared to competing units. The device s Windows/host-based printing provides cost-effective printing for a small workgroup. The optional kits for network printing, network scanning, and security round off the versatile and flexible feature-set for the workgroup.

When announcing the award, Elizabeth McNichol, VP of Corporate Relations for BERTL commented, In the 20 to 29 ppm segment of the market, the competition is fierce. Sharp has made an aggressive play for small workgroup environments with the Sharp AR-M236 / AR-M276. After rigorous analysis of many competing units, it was clear only the Sharp could earn the coveted title of BERTL s BEST for this monochrome segment.

Unlike the BERTL s BEST Awards, which are awarded by BERTL s highly trained team of analysts, the Readers Choice Awards are not based on BERTL s analysis. The Readers Choice awards are the findings of twelve months of research into who the marketplace considers the most outstanding manufacturers in the digital imaging industry. Sharp and its range of printer copiers has also been named a winner in the BERTL Readers Choice Awards , receiving honours with the Gold Award in the Ease of Use category.

From the perspective of the experienced buyers and users from the 47 different countries that voted, ease of use is seen as the crucial deciding factor in the purchase of digital equipment. Sharp s earning of the Gold Award in this category reflects the approach the company has taken to ensure the simplicity of the graphical user interface on its mono and colour copier printer ranges.
