Sharp Study Shapes Classic Microwave Oven Style - R-798 and R-898 Combination Ovens

Whether for a large family kitchen or a minimalist bachelor pad, Sharp has the microwave oven to match. From family sized combination ovens to stylish solo microwaves, the newly launched Sharp range has an appliance to suit every taste and design.
To ensure the range continues to meet the needs of the consumer, Sharp undertook an extensive survey of customers to discover exactly what they wanted. The results made interesting reading, with modern, sleek design heading the wish list for the ideal combination oven. Next came ease of use, with an emphasis on simplified cooking controls, relevant functions and menus, and the oven must be easy to clean. Surprisingly, price came much further down the list, suggesting that people in the market for a combination microwave oven are prepared to pay for good quality, high performance products
Sharp has analysed the results and developed a new range to reflect these findings. There s the simple-yet-stylish mid-size combination microwave ovens, the R-798 and R-898, which launched in October 2004, whilst a stunning black gloss family size combination oven, the R-88BKM, is scheduled to launch in the UK in June 2005.
The new R-798 double grill combination oven and R-898 double grill convection oven make a subtle, yet striking statement, with a totally flush front panel and door, a new bar-style handle to co-ordinate with popular kitchen door furniture, and wonderfully clear and uncluttered control panel. Both models are sold in a modern, semi-gloss white finish, with the R-898 also available in matt silver, and the look is completed with a contrasting silver edge detail, which frames the front of the ovens perfectly. With build-in kits also on offer, the range complements ultra-modern and more traditional kitchens alike.
Sharp’s research found that combi oven enthusiasts used their oven most often to cook roasts, pasta, casseroles and pizza, and, whilst they liked a range of cooking options, didn t want to be confused with too many fancy menu buttons or over-complicated controls.

So the 26 litre R-798 and R-898 family size ovens feature a redesigned touch control panel with fewer buttons and an emphasis on the key cooking functions. Both models give the flexibility of 900W microwave, 1900W double grill and convection cooking power, with the R-798 offering a 40-200C oven and the R-898 40-250C.
The R-898 has a convenient Express Cook function, which can cook seven popular foods such as roasts, rice, pasta and chips with no fuss from frozen or chilled, including roast chicken cooked from frozen in an impressive 50 minutes. A separate one-touch button cooks pizza perfectly from frozen or chilled, and defrosting isn t neglected, with the Express Defrost facility making short work of frozen meat joints and portions. Select one of the three Auto Cook menus on the R-798 and the oven automatically calculates the correct cooking time and power level for perfect results, and the oven also includes Express Defrost.
Joining the R-798 and R-898 is the R-88BK family size combination oven. Available in a high gloss black finish, this stylish new appliance is perfect for the minimalist bachelor pad or modern family kitchen. The R-88BK offers 900W microwave power, 1850W double grill and 40-250C convection oven. The Auto Roast, Auto Cook and Auto Defrost functions ensure meals are quickly and easily whilst the One Touch Pizza setting guarantees great results with minimum effort.
Also launching in 2005, and exuding the clean lines and simple design demanded by the style conscious consumer, are the R-25ST solo oven; R-259 mid-size solo microwave, available in white and silver; the R-35ST and R-358SL family size microwave ovens, R-65ST compact microwave oven with grill; the R-758SL family size oven with double grill and the R-958 and R-98ST large size combination ovens.
