DAB goes Sharp, Shiny and Chic - Launch of the FV-DB1E DAB Digital Radio

Bringing a fresh, sleek look to digital radio, Sharp is launching its first portable Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) radio in the slimline shape of the FV-DB1E.

With a high-gloss white or silver grille fascia, clean, ultra-modern lines and large LCD display, the FV-DB1E certainly stands out from the crowd of retro -styled DAB radios currently on the market.

Sharp s stereo radio makes the most of the great benefits on offer from digital radio. It gives excellent sound quality and a wide choice of stations, many of which are not available on FM or AM. Tuning is straightforward and DAB radio stations also broadcast additional information for the user, which appears as rolling text on the radio s LCD screen, for example up-to-the-minute sports scores or song title and artist in the case of music stations. Unlike many digital radios, the FV-DB1E also incorporates an FM tuner to pick up stations which aren t broadcast on DAB.

The FV-DB1E is equally at home in a modern kitchen, lounge, study or the bedroom, where it can be used as an alarm clock radio. Weighing only 1.6kg*, being mains or battery powered and with an integral carry handle, it s truly portable for radio fans who want to keep listening whilst they re out and about, whether it be barbecuing in the garden or sunbathing at the park.

The radio s DAB and FM tuner has 20 station presets which can be easily selected via the buttons on the top edge of the unit, and most other functions can be accessed from the front control panel beneath the blue backlit LCD screen. The FV-DB1E has an optical digital output terminal so radio can be recorded digitally to preserve sound quality plus a line out to allow DAB radio to be output via a separate sound system if required.

The FV-DB1E is available from leading UK consumer electronics retailers and department stores from June.
