Sharp has announced the launch of the UP-3301, a full colour touch-screen EPOS terminal perfect for both hospitality and retail environments. An accompanying Sharp contact-less clerk key will be available for use with the UP-3301 in September 2003.

Based on the highly successful UP-3300, the UP-3301 incorporates an ethernet network using TCPIP to achieve industry standard connectivity. The UP-3301 is fitted with a 2MB memory as standard, ensuring simple network systems can be achieved without the addition of further memory.

Paul Burton, Product Planning Manager for EPOS at Sharp commented, The UP-3301 has been designed to fully integrate with a company s existing structures. It provides the ultimate in ease of connectivity for customers, ensuring a single style of cable can be utilised across the entire business, perfect for smaller companies seeking to grow or larger enterprises with a sophisticated infrastructure.

The UP-3301 is an embedded colour touch-screen EPOS device, which incorporates the software familiar to users of the UP-3300. A common-sense, menu driven structure to the programming software makes for speedy installation and set-up, while Sharp s intuitive application software ensures the terminal is easy to use essential in the high labour turnover environment of the hospitality sector.

The LCD display makes the UP-3301 perfect for hotels, retail outlets, restaurants and bars, providing a compact and attractive unit allowing surfaces to remain uncluttered by a keyboard. The screen has an extremely user friendly interface, ensuring minimal training is required by operators.

The addition of the contact-less clerk key provides additional protection for the UP-3301, ideal for pubs, hotels or convenience stores or any other environment where the public can have direct access to the system. To activate the EPOS, the operator must push the key against the lock, which will then recognise the user is authorised to access to the UP-3301 and allows the transaction to continue. The key carries a 64 bit encryption ensuring that every key, world-wide, is unique.

Available from Sharp s national accredited reseller network, the UP-3301 is competitively priced.
