Travel Light with Sharp s Super-Slim New Cams

For PC users who want to able to capture and edit video easily wherever they go, Sharp has launched the VL-NZ100H which combines compact dimensions and light-weight design with stylish looks and PC connectivity.

Housed in a sleek, brushed silver body measuring just 136.1 x 86.3 x 58.6 mm (W x H x D) and weighing only 455g (without battery), the camcorder is small enough to carry around in a handbag or pocket.

With its unique ViewCam design, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, the VL-NZ100H builds on the success of the UK s number one selling camcorder, the VL-A10H1. The ViewCam concept means consumers can simply point and shoot by using the 270-degree rotating 3 colour LCD screen, allowing footage to be filmed from any angle and leaving the eyes free to concentrate on the subject.

Performance is also impressive with a 10x optical and 300x digital zoom. Features such as its Digital Compensation Circuit, which automatically lightens dark picture areas without saturating the bright sections, and Digital Image Stabilisation (DIS), which helps to steady the camera shot, further enhance image quality.

Ideal for the PC conscious, the VL-NZ100H offers everything a user needs to get the most out of a digital camcorder and a PC. Video can be edited on a computer and then transferred back to the camcorder, using its DV-IN function. It can also capture and store digital still images on SD memory card (leaving the tape free for video) using the built-in slot housed on the ViewCam. Images can then uploaded to a PC and emailed.

A USB port enables stills to be easily downloaded to a PC without the need to remove the memory card from the camera. The VL-NZ100H comes supplied with an 8MB SD card, USB driver software and a remote control unit.

Joining the VL-NZ100H in the range is the entry-level VL-NZ50H, which is the same size and weight as its older brother. This camcorder is designed to offer families a simple and convenient way of shooting video. It also adopts the ViewCam styling allowing the user to view their subject and easily watch the playback of footage using the 3 LCD colour screen.

With its 10 x optical zoom, 300 x digital zoom and image enhancing Digital Image Stabilisation, impressive quality video and sound can be captured easily. The product also sports a DV-output (i-Link) that enables the transfer of footage from the camcorder to the PC for video editing.

Both camcorders include all the cables and connectors needed to get started and are available from Sharp stockists from June 2002.
