Berlin IFA 2010, 02.09.2010 - LCD pioneer Sharp is revolutionising colour television this year with its Quattron technology and once again setting new standards in its core business of LCD TVs. The Sharp AQUOS televisions with Quattron technology offer the best picture on an LCD TV currently available with the lowest energy consumption at the same time – in 2D and 3D. This means Quattron is the technological basis for Sharp’s LCD business and is becoming the company’s new growth driver. Sharp Goes Extra-Large with New Flat Panel TVs - launch of PZ-43HV2E 43″ and PZ-50HV2E 50″ Plasma TVs

Taking its flat screen range to even greater heights (and widths), Sharp Electronics is launching two Plasma Display TV models, offering the home cinema fan big screen entertainment in the comfort of their lounge.

Whilst remaining committed to its core Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) technology for TVs, Sharp has recognised that many consumers require a TV with a larger screen size than can currently be achieved using LCD. The PZ-50HV2E 50″ and PZ-43HV2E 43″ Plasma TVs fill this niche perfectly, bringing impressive performance with the styling to match.

Both TVs are designed to look just as good when switched off as switched on, with minimalistic lines and an understated silver finish. Slimline speakers either side of the display and a sleek two-footed stand complete the look, with a separate AV centre for both models incorporating the TV tuner and main inputs and outputs ensuring the screens are as slimline as possible.

Picture quality is obviously paramount, and the PZ-50HV2E and PZ-43HV2E have a number of key features which enhance the performance of their 1280 x 768 WXGA and 1024 x 768 XGA resolution screens. A deep encased structure for each plasma cell ensures the maximum light is emitted through the viewing area of the panel rather than leaking into adjoining cells which can cause fuzziness.

A new Pure Colour Filter is used in the panel to reduce light reflection so pictures are much less affected when viewed in bright conditions such as a lounge in daytime. In addition, Advanced Continuous Emission Display Technology improves colour gradation and vastly improves detail in dark areas of a picture which have been problematic for earlier generations plasma displays.

With a brightness of 350cd/m2 and a high 900:1 contrast ratio, the result is a vivid, dynamic viewing experience.

Sound quality is just as impressive, with a combination of 6cm cone elliptical woofers and 2.5cm dome tweeters giving powerful bass and balanced treble in a two-way four speaker system with SRS Surround Sound. Picture in Picture and Picture and Text functions are included along with Fastext.

Full home cinema system connectability on both TVs is assured with a range of inputs housed in the AV centre, including three scart sockets plus an XGA PC input for increased flexibility.

Both the PZ-43HV2E and PZ-50HV2E are available in April.
