Sharp UK is building on the popularity of its unique ViewCam concept, which was launched in 1993, with the introduction of its latest next-generation VL-NZ10H ViewCam. The camcorder, about 50% smaller than its predecessor, is compact enough to fit into a pocket and is designed to offer complete ease of use combined with sleek lines and networking facilities.
The ViewCam style, which has secured over 6% of market share in the UK, allows filming from any angle using the 270-degree rotating 3 colour LCD screen leaving the eyes free to concentrate on the subject.
Digital still images can be recorded onto the SD or multimedia card housed in the camcorder and it sports an 800,000 pixel CCD with F1.8 lens for superb picture quality. The VL-NZ10H has a Digital Video In facility so users can download video to a PC for editing and then upload back to the camcorder for the ultimate in digital archiving.
The camcorder has the facility to fit an optional high sensitivity zoom microphone, that zooms in simultaneously with the lens to capture distant sounds as though they were metres away.
Picture performance of the 10 X optical zoom lens is further enhanced by a range of additional functions. Also included is Digital Gamma Correction which enables contrast and detail to be increased in dark conditions.

For more experienced users who want to take direct control of the camcorder there are a range of manual overrides such as shutter speed for maximum creativity whilst filming. Weighing just 455 grams and with dimensions of only 133 X 85 X 55 mm (w x h x d) the compact silver unit fits easily in the user s hand for simple operation and carrying.
The VL-NZ10 comes packaged with a full range of basic features such as an on-screen user guide making video capture easier especially for first- time camcorder users. The unit is bundled with all the accessories needed to get started such as a battery pack, cables and shoulder strap.
Sharp will add to its camcorder range in January 2002 with the introduction of the VL-NZ8S, an entry-level version of the VL-NZ10H. The VL-NZ8H is a compact and lightweight digital camcorder designed with ease-of-use in mind. It comes with a 10 x optical zoom, a 300 x digital zoom and the facility to record stills onto an SD Card or Multimedia card (not included in package) using the slot housed on the camcorder. Added features include its Digital Gamma Brightness Compensation Circuit and Digital Image Stabilisation or DIS.
