Sharp has unveiled its latest inkjet printer, the AJ-1805, which will be available in the UK from June 2001. The AJ-1805 is an entry level full colour printer ideal for the SoHo environment.

A relative newcomer to the inkjet market, Sharp launched its first three inkjet products at the beginning of the year, and has enjoyed great success.

Product Marketing Manager for Inkjet Products, Mark Goldsmith commented, We have begun to establish an excellent reputation in the inkjet market in a relatively short time. The new product, the AJ-1805, has the strong performance of its predecessor the AJ-1800, matched with superb aesthetics, allowing it to enhance any home or small office.

The economical AJ-1805 printer has separate ink cartridges for black, cyan, magenta and yellow. A popular feature inherited from the AJ-1800, the four cartridge system ensures wastage is kept to a minimum since individual cartridges are only replaced when empty.

The printer achieves efficient print speeds of 10 pages per minute in mono and 6 pages per minute colour in draft mode, with a resolution of 1,200 dpi. The AJ-1805 package includes a range of software including the leading image manipulation software, MGI Photo Suite III SE (normal selling price 29.99 exc. VAT), which allows the user to enhance existing pictures or to create new images.

Drivers supplied with the AJ-1805 include those for Windows 95, 98, NT4, Windows 2000, Windows ME and Macintosh computers. To future proof their range of printers, Sharp has fitted the AJ-1805 with USB and Parallel Ports, ensuring it is compatible with all existing and new PCs.

For convenience, Sharp s AJ-1805 is fitted with a 150 sheet fully enclosed paper tray, to keep refills to a minimum and to protect the paper from dust. The printer also has a manual bypass sheet feeder allowing users to print single sheets of specialist paper without removing their normal paper first .

The AJ-1805 comes with a one year exchange warranty and will be available from computer resellers, office equipment suppliers and retailers at under 89.
