Combining colour copying, scanning and printing within one small unit, Sharp has unveiled the AJ-6010, perfect for home or small office use.
Part of Sharp s new inkjet range launching in the first quarter of 2001, the AJ-6010 completes the series which includes the AJ-1800, an entry level printer, and the AJ-2100, a photographic quality printer.
Available from February 2001, the AJ-6010 is a true multi-functional device, offering three essential office functions at an affordable price.
Mark Goldsmith, Product Marketing Manager for Inkjet Products commented, Sharp has an excellent reputation in the business sector having produced award-winning office equipment for decades. We have now focused this expertise within the inkjet market, applying the same standards of quality and functionality to the SoHo environment.
Featuring a built-in flat bed, the AJ-6010 offers fully functional colour copying and scanning abilities. As a printer, the AJ-6010 offers true value for money, operating a four cartridge system, rather than the traditional two cartridge system (one black and one combined colour cartridge) used by many printers. Often the combined colour cartridge within the twin system will need to be replaced simply because one of the colours has finished, proving wasteful and expensive. By using separate cartridges for black, magenta, yellow and cyan, the AJ-6010 allows users to renew each cartridge as required, reducing wastage and maintaining low running costs.
The AJ-6010 achieves print speeds of 12 pages per minute (ppm) in mono and 7 ppm in colour and with resolutions of up to 1,200 dpi. The printer package includes a range of software including the leading image manipulation software, MGI Photo Suite III SE (retail price 29.99 excluding VAT). Designed to provide an efficient printing service, the AJ-6010 package includes SharpDesk software which creates thumbnail images of all documents stored on an individual disk, allowing the user to establish at a glance the contents of each.
Drivers supplied with the AJ-6010 include those for Windows 95, 98, NT4, Windows 2000 and Macintosh computers, whilst those for Windows ME will be available in early 2001. To future proof their range of printers, Sharp has fitted the AJ-6010 with USB and Parallel Ports, ensuring it is compatible with all existing and new PCs.
Also a colour flatbed scanner, the AJ-6010 operates at 600 dpi (30 bit). More importantly, however, is its button manager facility to allow users to scan a document directly into the format required without having to open the various different software packages manually first. If a document is required for use in Word, simply by pressing the button manager, the AJ-6010 will automatically open the relevant OCR software, scan the document, then convert it to a Word document, so leaving it in a format ready for use.
When used as a colour copier, the AJ-6010 provides standalone or PC copying to a maximum of 99 copies and has a 25-400% zoom facility enabling originals to be manipulated when being reproduced.
For convenience, Sharp s AJ-6010 is fitted with a 150 sheet fully enclosed paper tray, to keep refills to a minimum and to protect the paper from dust, whilst the printer also has a manual bypass sheet feeder so that different paper may be inserted without removing the normal supply.
The AJ-6010 comes with a one year exchange warranty and will be available from computer resellers, office equipment suppliers and retailers, priced at under 299.00.
